Stanford M. Goldman, MD, Medical Educator, Former Chairman at the McGovern School of Medicine at The University of Texas Houston, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in medical education.
A respected voice in the field of radiology, Dr. Goldman is a widely regarded medical educator and professor emeritus with the McGovern School of Medicine at The University of Texas Houston. Prior to his retirement in 2012, he served the university as a professor of urology and professor of radiology for nearly 20 years. Dr. Goldman has also worked as chair of radiology with the University of Texas Medical School in Houston, professor of urology with Johns Hopkins University, and clinical professor with Uniformed Services University. Furthermore, Dr. Goldman served as a clinical professor for the University of Maryland. While at Johns Hopkins University, Dr. Goldman worked as a full professor and chaired the Hopkins Bayview Medical Center (previously known as Baltimore City hospitals) for more than two decades.
Dr. Goldman initially developed an interest in medicine through his mother, who was an asthmatic when he was a child. Driven by a desire to help others, Dr. Goldman received a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Religious Education from Yeshiva University in 1961. Upon completing an MD with the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1965, he completed an internship at the Jefferson University School of Medicine and residency at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
Throughout his career, Dr. Goldman has taken great pride in training and sponsoring residents and faculty members. For more than 10 years, he has also served as a member of the editorial board of Emergency Radiology, editor of Urology, and associate editor of European Urology, Radiology and Urological Radiology. He attributes his career success to being self-driven and having interesting mentors, including Dr. Madoff, who was on the faculty at the Jefferson University School of Medicine and was Dr. Goldman’s doctor when he was a child.
In recognition of his contributions to the medical community, Dr. Goldman has been honored as a grantee of the Royal College of Physicians since 2006. He has been featured in a wide range of honors publications, including Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Education, Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, Who’s Who in the South and Southwest, and Who’s Who in the World. He was most recently selected to receive a Worldwide Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017.
